DIGITAL PRESERVATION POLICY

To ensure long-term accessibility and preservation of the published content, Star Law Review Derecho y Jurisprudencia implements various digital preservation strategies:

  • Regular backups: Regular backups of the journal’s servers and files are made to prevent data loss.

  • Continuous update of OJS software: The Open Journal Systems (OJS) software is constantly maintained and updated to prevent technological obsolescence, with plans for future migrations if necessary.

  • DOI assignment: Each article is assigned a Digital Object Identifier (DOI), ensuring traceability and permanent access over time.

  • Storage in multiple formats: Articles are stored in various formats (PDF, HTML, XML-JATS) to facilitate accessibility and future reproduction.

  • Reduction of technological dependencies: Technical procedures are thoroughly documented to ensure the self-sufficiency of the long-term preservation system.

  • Active preservation strategies: Techniques such as data rejuvenation, technological migration, digital archaeology, and software preservation are implemented to ensure the continuity and accessibility of the content.

Additionally, Star Law Review Derecho y Jurisprudencia is part of the LOCKSS Private Network (Lots of Copies Keep Stuff Safe) and the Public Knowledge Project - Private LOCKSS Network (PKP-PLN). These collaborative initiatives allow the journal's content to be stored in a decentralized manner in partner libraries, ensuring recovery in case of failures in the original servers.
